Grimacing Tide Gear

 Here's what I have.

Yeti Mic

Lekato Looper

Boss M-30

Marshall MG15R

Audacity

I am also trying to figure out how to proceed. Here's a description of what I want Grimacing Tide to be: It's a mixed media zine, with a blog, pdf's for download, and a YouTube Channel. It features my musical playfulness.

Currently I want to loop bass, then rhythm guitar, then learn to solo over those and record it into Audacity. Then I'd like to make it into a song. So I'm basically learning to assemble a song.

But I've got to do it playfully and step away when it becomes frustrating.

Check out this example: I am trying to play along with The Dead. I am listening to

It’s Ramble on Rose. Pretty sure it’s in D.

“Talking about PRACTICE!”

Tonight I am playing my guitar, then taking breaks to write. While the music still plays. I will join back in later. I will be Playing in the Band.

Here’s a song with a lot of Chromatics.

It’s what we are going to do in Summer School- “Meet Me By The Creek.” We can go play music in the park. Like the Grateful Dead.

We’ll call it Instrument Karaoke.

I’ll need a PA system.

But first, “Hell in a Bucket”

I can’t tell what key it’s in, and can’t easily figure it out just by listening and holding the guitar. I am searching for Root Notes, and finding them by pressing frets. Not just  random notes only, but calculated guesses. It’s a method that i use to search for the mixolydian scale. It’s hard, but “at least I’m enjoying the ride”.

The next song is from the Jerry Garcia Band. “Stop that Train”. How can I make it mine? I could try doing a chooka- chooka sound to the beat. The beat sounds like a 4/4.

1 e & a 2 e  &  a  3  e  &  a  4  e  &  a

It loops. The first Chooka would start on the 1. If this gets edited in post production, you will soon see me showing you how I am doing it. It will probably be a YouTube Short.

And also spend a reasonable amount of time on it so I am not escaping from other responsibilities.

Here is my current folder, the basis of what will eventually be my Zine.
